The world is facing pressing challenges to ensure a sustainable future for our planet. How capital markets can empower sustainable finance and incorporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into investment decision-making? Let’s have a look at recent pan-European initiatives launched by Euronext on this topic.
ESG Index Families
Euronext currently provides over 40 ESG index families. In order to respond to investors’ need for a public climate action benchmark within the Eurozone, Euronext partnered with Vigeo Eiris Moody’s to design the Euronext Eurozone ESG Large 80. The index tracks the Eurozone’s 80 best-performing Large Cap companies that answer to strong social and governance criteria and lead the transition towards a low-carbon economy. ESG Guidelines for Listed companies
As investors increasingly factor ESG criteria into their investment strategies, Euronext has developed guidelines to help listed companies understand how to address ESG issues as a key component of investor relations, as well as the main principles to consider when preparing an ESG report. https://www.euronext.com/en/news/esg-guidelines-for-listed-companies
From Green Bonds to ESG Bonds
Capitalising on the success
of Green Bonds, Euronext is now home to more than 300 ESG-related bonds (including
blue, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds) from 130 issuers
globally. This provides one Pan-European platform for issuers to showcase their
ESG credentials and for investors to rapidly identify ESG bonds.
